Tembo Global has bagged a Rs 5.95 billion contract from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) to develop 124 MW of solar photovoltaic power plants. The company has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with MSEDCL under Mukhyamantri Saur Krushi Vahini Yojana 2.0. This is part of the PM-KUSUM scheme for feeder-level solarisation. The deadline for the completion of the project is 18 months. Tembo Global has recently entered the solar energy sector in the Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing (MEP) segment.
In October 2024, MSEDCL announced the winners of its 1,650 MW wind-solar auction. JSW Neo secured a total of 600 MW of which 400 MW is under the greenshoe option. Tata Power secured a total 400 MW including 200 MW greenshoe option and Avaada Energy was awarded 500 MW (13 MW plus 487 MW greenshoe). Juniper Green secured 150 MW with half of it being under the greenshoe option. All the bids were won at a tariff of Rs 3.60 per kWh. Initially floated for 1,150 MW, the capacity was later increased to 1,650 MW under the greenshoe option.
In the same month, MSEDCL entered into an energy storage facility agreement with JSW Energy PSP Two Limited, a subsidiary of JSW Energy, for a 1,500 MW/12,000 MWh pumped hydro energy storage project.
